James Ward's Retromax workshop is able to design, develop and manufacture parts for any high performance car or restoration. From private classic vehicles to performance race teams. James has over 25 years experience in the racing and performance vehicle industry,  creating custom parts, building and restoring vehicles to the highest standard.

James comes from a proud family tradition of racing and high-performance motorsport. James learnt valuable knowledge from his father, Phil Ward, an icon of Australian Motorsport. James grew up working in his Dad's Race Team, which ran; Monaro Sports Sedan, BDA Ford Escort Mk1, Mercedes Benz 190e in Group A and Super Touring.



In the year 2000, James worked with his father Phil and brother Brad to design and develop one of the most successful categories in Australian Motorsport history, the Aussie Racing Car Category. The Ward family worked together to design and develop the purpose built race car, and create a category under the Confederation of Australian Motorsport. The concept, design and promotion of the category was so successful that 24 years later it is still remains unchanged and one of the best V8 Supercar support categories.
